Dr. Anne Shelton Crute

 
 

Anne Shelton Crute is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, licensed acupuncturist, and the founder and owner of Ritual Health Acupuncture & Herbalism in Berkeley, California. Her work integrates acupuncture, classical Chinese medicine, Chinese Polestar astrology, Ayurvedic medicine, and Tibetan herbalism, with a focus on helping individuals and families navigate periods of transition, chronic illness, and spiritual realignment.

Anne is a published author and educator. She contributed a chapter exploring Chinese medicine in relation to calendrical time, almanac influences, and astronomy in acupuncture to A Ring Without End: Reflections on Classical Chinese Medicine, co-authored with Z’ev Rosenberg and Stephen Cowan. She has taught Chinese medicine doctoral-level students across the United States on her research and clinical work. She is also an editor on the forthcoming book on Chinese Polestar astrology by Liu Ming, with whom she studied intensively for twelve years.

Anne’s clinical practice centers on bringing classical teachings and texts to life in a modern context. She specializes in autoimmune and chronic disease, digestive disorders, nervous system regulation, emotional overwhelm and burnout, sleep disorders, and pain. Her work includes supporting women through fertility, pregnancy, labor, postpartum, perimenopause, menopause, and post-menopause; men with digestive, musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiopulmonary conditions; and children with digestive and nervous system concerns.

A Chinese Polestar astrologer in the tradition of Liu Ming, Anne studied astrology, Chinese medicine, and food therapy with him until his death. She studied with him at Da Yuan Circle for 12 years and continues this work through practice, teaching, and editorial work. Her approach emphasizes reconnecting patients with their innate sense of spirit and embodied intelligence.

Anne has trained through private apprenticeships for over twenty years in the United States, Japan, and India. She has mentored closely with Z’ev Rosenberg since 2017 and edited his book Afterglow. From 2014 to 2022, she was a clinical intern at Robert Levine’s acupuncture clinic and continues her relationship with him to this day. In Japan, she studied acupuncture and pediatrics at Shikoku Medical College. In India, she studied Ayurveda primarily with Vaidya Dr. Ashwin Shastry at Arogyaniketana Ayurveda inpatient and outpatient clinic in Karnataka, where she was taught the Ashtanga Hrdayam by Vagbhata. She has also served as a board member of the American Society for Chinese Medicine.

Anne received her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Five Branches University with a capstone Classical Notions of Health in Context from the Ayurvedic and Chinese Medical Traditions, 2019. Prior to that, she graduated magna cum laude with a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine from the Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College. 

Dr. Adam Okerblom

Adam Okerblom is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM), Tibetan Medicine practitioner, and health educator. Dr. Adam's practice integrates the classical theory and methods of Chinese Medicine and Tibetan Medicine. His years of studying traditional medical systems, philosophy, and spiritual practices deeply inspire and inform his passion for helping others on their paths of healing and self-discovery.

Treating Musculoskeletal Pain and Tension Dr. Adam specializes in treating musculoskeletal pain, especially chronic pain, and long-term tension-holding patterns. He spent over a decade practicing massage therapy, developing a highly effective skillset for managing musculoskeletal pain. Adam is passionate about working with hands-on therapeutics to release pain and tension patterns in the body. He often integrates Tibetan Kunye massage, hot stones, cupping, and hot oil therapies into his treatments. The results are soothing and grounding, promoting deep relaxation and long-lasting pain relief.

Treating Chronic Disease Dr. Adam specializes in treating chronic health challenges in various physiological systems. He offers effective and personalized care for gastrointestinal conditions, endocrine imbalances, respiratory conditions, cancer treatment support, inflammatory conditions, and reproductive health.  Adam is also passionate about mental-emotional health, helping patients with anxiety, depression, chronic stress, and insomnia.

Chinese & Tibetan Medicine
Dr. Adam received his Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) from Five Branches University and his Master of Science of Oriental Medicine (MSOM) from the Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College (AIMC) in Berkeley, CA. Adam is a graduate of the Shang Shung School of Tibetan Medicine Four-Year Program where he served as a Tibetan medicine educator and board member. He completed clinical internships at the Tsho Ngon College of Tibetan Medicine at Qinghai University.  Adam had the honor of interning with various esteemed senior practitioners of Chinese and Tibetan Medicine. Dr. Adam’s doctoral capstone project was a translation project compiling data on selected classical Tibetan herbal formulas.

Approach to Care
Adam’s practice welcomes and supports the whole family. He works with a variety of conditions such as internal medicine, oncology supportive care, autoimmune conditions, digestive health, pain management, insomnia, and emotional wellness. His patients appreciate his warm and considerate nature as well as his his specialization in Tibetan medicine.

Public Health Education
Dr. Adam teaches courses on health, wellness, and philosophy from the perspectives of Chinese Medicine, Tibetan Medicine, Buddhism, and global spiritual traditions. He taught several semester-long courses at San Francisco State University’s Holistic Health Department. Dr. Adam has offered presentations and guest lectures at prestigious venues including the University of California at Berkeley and Stanford School of Medicine.
